Peerless disks offer a chip-based identifier technology that could enable data security, protecting against unauthorized attempts to read the contents of a lost or stolen disk. Also, Iomega has integrated read/write heads into the fully sealed Peerless disks, an advance that drastically reduces the risk of contamination and allows sustained transfer rates of up to 15 MBps.
